For one thing, drums and percussion behave in a different way to most sounds. But if you’re playing drums, a piano roll isn’t the best representation of what’s going on. HOW TO OPEN SUPERIOR DRUMMER 2.0 IN REAPER SOFTWAREA New Viewīy default, if you click on a MIDI clip in the main project window, it will open in a fairly conventional-looking piano-roll editor - which should be familiar to anyone who’s used any DAW software before. Of course, most things aren’t set up by default in the way I like them, so in this month’s column I thought I’d take you through some customisations that I find make drum programming easier. Actually, though, Reaper’s MIDI editor can be set up to work in a similar way, and while not everything can be replicated, it boasts some very useful features for composing and tweaking MIDI drum parts. Having grown accustomed to using Cubase’s excellent MIDI Drum Editor through many years (decades, even!) of use, I found that I missed it when I started using Reaper. Reaper’s MIDI Editor can be customised to make programming your drum parts easier. ![]() HOW TO OPEN SUPERIOR DRUMMER 2.0 IN REAPER PROThey won't work with the Pro or MegaPAK version because they need the RealTracks from the 2022 UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, or Audiophile Edition.1: A MIDI drum loop copied from EZdrummer to a Reaper track and viewed in the default piano roll editor. Post attachments only available when logged in Superior Drummer 2 Default Kit Trigger Notes In your Midi drum track VSTi slot you will need to load MiniHost VSTi IL Minihost Modular 32.dll or IL Minihost Modular 64.dll, in MiniHost load VST Mapper then connect SD after that so it's getting the re-mapped midi from the Biab Midi Drum track. Save the drum track then re-map it with MidiFileMapper. Something else to note is I mostly use Jazz or Latin styles, I think this might have something to do with it since the latin kits often have percussion instruments (clave, guirjo, etc) in addition to standard kit drums.Įdited by watermelon ( 03/01/17 10:36 AM) I've tried exporting the MIDI drum tracks and dropping them into a SD track directly but this has the same results as loading SD directly in BIAB. This works without a hitch except I can't get the drum kit mapping right either way. I use BIAB to generate rhythm section and piano tracks which I then import into Sonar X3 and record my guitars on top. ![]() HOW TO OPEN SUPERIOR DRUMMER 2.0 IN REAPER PATCHI've found other suggestions to make a custom patch map but this has proven easier said than done. I've searched on PG's site and I found a few threads on this before, but none of them address this particular issue. I have multiple drumsets available in SD and I've tried them all but the MIDI mappings are always messed up. I've been able to add SD as a plugin in BIAB but the mappings are really off- midi tracks that should be played on the hi-hat are sent to SD on the bass drum, etc. Has anyone had any success using Superior Drummer as a plugin for BIAB? ![]()
